Ayr pick up their first away league victory of the campaign |
The Home side took the lead from the spot, when Paul Currie scored from the spot and doubled their advantage when Celtic loanee, Greig Spence, scored with a header.
But United clawed their way back into the game when Michael Moffat showed some great individual skill after picking up the ball and sending it past David Hutton in the Hamilton sticks, for 2-1 shortly after the break. Ayr were back on level terms on the 57th min when John Robertson scored his first goal since re-signing for the Honest Men at the Beginning of the season. When it looked like the points would be shared, mid-week hero, Chris Smith, converted in the final seconds to give United the first away three points of the season.
Brian Reid said:
"Tuesday night’s result provided a massive boost for everyone and we were just happy to come here and get a result. When we were 2-0 down, not a lot of people would have thought we would have come back to win but the final score shows great spirit between the boys and we are all delighted."
